Event description:

Join us for misery movies, an afternoon of community and filmmaking about mental health, nature and QTIBPOC futures! We’ll be taking you on a journey through each of the seasons by way of a very special programme of hand-picked shorts by UK-based filmmakers of the global majority asking the important questions about rest, right of way and resilience. We’ll also be screening some of the films made during our monthly misery medicine plant magic gatherings, at which QTIBPOC are invited to learn how to make friends with and medicine from the plants that grow in London’s public spaces. This screening will span speculative fiction, documentary, dance, poetry and more, so come prepared to be amused, moved and maybe even with some new plant friends? The films will run for about an hour, after which there will be a Q&A with some of the filmmakers, and some of the community herbalists featured in the films. This screening is curated & hosted by misery (@miseryparty), a mental health collective and sober clubnight by and for queer and transgender people of the global majority. Sliding scale tickets available. No QTIBPOC turned away for lack of funds - email miseryparty@gmail.com for a free ticket. Everyone Welcome! misery movies is part of What Shall We Build Here (28 June - 2 July 2023), Artsadmin's festival of art, climate and community. Poster by Parissah Lin (@wonton.titties)
